Murrumbidgee And Lowbidgee WHS Compliance
project overview

WaterNSW identified many Work Health and Safety non-conformance within the Lowbidgee and Murrumbidgee valleys, which pose hazards including slips, trips and falls; environment / physical hazards; static and mobile plant and equipment, manual handling and working at heights.

The Murrumbidgee Project included the design and construct elements of 10 weirs and regulators with the scope covering a 400km diameter footprint from Leeton in eastern New South Wales to Balranald Town in western New South Wales.

Murrumbidgee
The contract was for refurbishment or replacement works at each of the following locations:

  • Redbank Weir;
  • Yanga Regulator No 102;
  • Waugorah Regulator 100;
  • Hartwood Weir;
  • Hay Weir;
  • Maude Weir;
  • Tarabah Weir;
  • Spillers Regulator;
  • Tombullen Outlet;
  • Gogeldrie Weir.

The main scope of work included fabrication and installation of new 18 metre tall stairs towers to provide safe access to weir gantry systems.

Lowbidgee
The Lowbidgee Project included the design and construct elements of 16 weirs and regulators with the scope covering a 100km diameter footprint from Maude in eastern New South Wales to Balranald Town in western New South Wales. This contract was for the refurbishment or replacement works at the following locations:

  • Wynburn Escape Regulator;
  • Wynburn Escape Middle A Regulator;
  • Wynburn Escape Middle B Regulator;
  • Glenn Avon Escape Regulator No. 133;
  • Baupie Escape No. 134;
  • Baupie Escape No. 134A;
  • Redbank Channel 116;
  • Lake Maremley Regulator No. 120;
  • Redbank Weir Road Regulator No. 108;
  • Redbank Weir Road Regulator No. 108A;
  • Redbank Weir Road Regulator No. 109;
  • Redbank Weir Road Regulator No. 110;
  • Redbank Weir Road Regulator No. 111;
  • Spitters Bank Regulator No. 107;
  • Jindeena Bridge Regulator No. 122;
  • Tala Escape Regulator No. 87.
