Fremantle Terminal Redevelopment

Project Overview

Ertech’s contract is one of several projects in this multi-stage redevelopment. Ertech’s civil scope of works included demolition and profiling, bulk excavation, construction of new pavement and stabilisation, asphalt overlay, drainage works, kerbing and line marking.

Additional electrical and fire services include supply, delivery and installation of new conduits, installation of new light towers and footings, upgrade of existing service pits and install new service pits and installation of new fire hydrants and connection to existing water main.

Patrick Terminals is Australia’s leading container terminal operator and has container terminals at four strategically located ports in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Fremantle. Patrick is redeveloping the Fremantle Container Terminal with the objective of improving operations efficiency and increasing capacity.

Scope of works

  • Demolish existing workshop structures
  • Profile existing asphalt surface
  • Box out and disposal of approximately 25,000m3 of existing material
  • Construct new subgrade and subbase – 40,000m2
  • New basecourse construction 250mm 4% cement stab –40,000m2
  • Install new asphalt 280mm thick – 40,000m2
  • Install new flush and semi-mountable kerbing – 0.5km
  • Upgrade existing service pits to a class G service pit
  • Install twenty new class G drainage pits and eight new class D service pits
  • Install approximately 400lm of stormwater drainage ranging from 300mmØ to 750mmØ
  • Water reticulation and drainage
  • Install new pillar fire hydrants to match existing ones on-site and connect to existing mains
  • Install new light towers and footings involving approx. 1.2km of electrical and communications conduits
