Busselton Foreshore Coastal Defences

Project Overview

Ertech was engaged by the City of Busselton for two projects as part of a $45M redevelopment of the City’s iconic foreshore. The first project was for the upgrade various coastal erosion protection infrastructure in 2015 and the second project followed on in 2016 to construct coastal defences to the West of the Busselton Jetty.

Scope of works

The scope of works for the Coastal Defences Construction project

Removal of existing retaining wall structures which interfere with the new design
Construction of two sets of concrete access stairs, adjoining foreshore concrete walling and a vehicle access ramp between the Busselton Jetty and the Scout Road Jetty
Install sheet-piled wall at the toe of the concrete walling, stairs and ramps
Extending Scout Road Jetty and installing scour protection and foreshore walling around the Scout Road Jetty
Construction of concrete access stairs and ramps east of the Scout Road Jetty
A buried geofabric sand container seawall east of the Scout Road Jetty

The scope of works for the Coastal Defences Central Core Area Project

Detailed design of the coastal defences in accordance with design criteria
Supply and installation of sheet piling
Supply and installation of exposed aggregate reinforced concrete terracing, steps, ramps and other associated coastal infrastructure
Integration to the Busselton Jetty abutment
Integration to the existing granite seawall to the West
Design and construction of the Queen Street Lookout
Design and construction of a beach access ramp and handrails
