Ministerial visit
We welcomed Minister Papalia to the Australia Marine Complex (AMC), to showcase the work we are undertaking on the AMC Wharf Extension project. The project, is being undertaken for Development WA, a client Ertech has partnered with for over 35 years.
Ertech is delighted to be involved in building marine infrastructure that enhances AMC’s reputation as Australia’s key defence industry hub, supports the navy’s plans to grow their fleet, and importantly helps WA secure defence contracts that will help diversify the state’s economy and jobs. Our business has played a key role in developing local industry capability through training and developing youth Motivation Foundation and investing in specialist new businesses, particularly over the last decade.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Geomarine, a company in the Ertech Group specialising in near shore marine construction.
About the project
As part of the project, the existing AMC Berth 1 will be extended by approximately 153 metres and existing services on AMC wharves 1, 2, and 3 will be improved. The upgrades will create additional berth capacity for all Royal Australian Navy vessels, including Anzac class frigates, Offshore Patrol Vessels, and the future Hunter class frigates. The project also includes the design of a 200-metre Finger Wharf to create Berths 7 and 8, which would increase the AMC’s capability to support larger navy vessels.
A new vessel transfer path at the AMC has recently reached practical completion and earthworks are now underway for a new shipbuilding hall and two road intersections.
