West Moreton Line Timber Bridge Replacements

Project Overview

Queensland Rail engaged Ertech to replace 18 bridges between Ipswich and Chinchilla with more durable steel structures to improve safety and reliability of the rail network.

Work was performed under a live rail environment for the substructure and under a track shutdown weekend for the superstructure. This was subject to the 2017 Bridge Code, 200A loading and high-velocity flood environments in poor soil conditions.

A lump sum contract was awarded to design and construct the bridges to replace the existing structures along the West Moreton Rail Line. The work occurred over 250km of the rail line.
