Spearwood Avenue Duplication

Project Overview

Ertech undertook the duplication and improvement works of Spearwood Avenue from Barrington Street to Beeliar Drive and the construction of Bridge 5382 for the City of Cockburn. The project was delivered in two separable portions.

Scope of works

Package 1 – Barrington Street to Yangebup Road (560m) including new Bridge over rail included:

  • Constructing in-situ foundations, abutment walls, wing walls, retaining walls including reinforcement, formwork and access
  • Detailed excavations for foundations of northern and southern abutments and deflection walls adjacent to rail
  • Temporary sheet piling and bracing to enable excavation of bridge foundations adjacent to rail
  • Placement of 900WB218 Steel Girder Frames between northern and southern abutments
  • In-situ concrete bridge deck
  • In-situ concrete barriers, upstands and approach slabs
  • Steel barriers, top-rails, cover plates and anti-vandal screen
  • Detailed earthworks either side of new bridge abutments to construct a new dual lane northern carriageway between Yangebup Road and Barrington Street
  • Installation of drainage systems
  • Construction of footpaths, pram ramps and concrete infill

Package 2 – Yangebup Road to Beeliar Drive (820m) included:

  • Demolition of existing kerbs, footpaths and road pavement
  • Detailed earthworks at Mainsail Junction to construct new dual lanes carriageway between Beeliar Drive and Yangebup Road
  • Removal, stockpiling and shredding of vegetation
  • Stormwater drains, pits and basins and side entry gully lids
  • Installing drainage systems
  • Installing traffic barriers and railings
  • Constructing boundary walls
  • Underground utility services and street lighting works
  • Road pavement and construction of footpaths, pram ramps, bus bays and concrete infill
