Ertech secures BMRRA Airside Infrastructure (D&C)

Ertech has been awarded a contract with the City of Busselton for the Design and Construction of the Airside Infrastructure at Busselton Margaret River Regional Airport.

The Airport Development Project is a key strategic priority for the City of Busselton and is expected to drive the economic and social growth of the South-West region. The airside upgrade will allow International flights to operate from the airstrip including Boeing 787-800 and Airbus A330-200.

Our contract is for the design and construction and the scope of work includes:

  • Detailed geotechnical assessment of the existing ground conditions
  • Detailed pavement and drainage design
  • Detailed aircraft lighting design
  • Extend the current runway length from 1800m to 2460m
  • Extend the runway width from the current 30m to 60m
  • Construction of new taxiways to new apron areas
  • Construction of 3 new apron areas to cater for various categories of aircraft
  • Construction of 2 new RESA areas
  • Diversion of drainage channels
  • Upgrade of fencing
  • Installation of all runway lighting and floodlighting
  • Line marking
  • Grooving

The contract involves the construction of more than 290,000m2 of new or upgraded pavements requiring more than 350,000 tonnes of sub-base and base-course and more than 44,000 tonnes of asphalt.
