Ertech was engaged to undertake the construction of all concrete civil works. The project included the construction of primary/tertiary crushers, access ramps leading from the ROM pad to the top of the primary crusher, and foundations and ground slabs for the desanding, screening building and conveyors.

The project involved:

  • Construction of a 30m high reinforced concrete primary crusher
  • A combination, pre-cast and cast in-situ reinforced concrete ramp superstructure with a total length of 140m
  • Excavation works
  • Installation of more than 8,800m3 of concrete supplied from the on-site batch plant
  • Supply and installation of 1,513t of reinforcing
  • Installation of 45t of cast-in items

Special points of interest

  • The client awarded the next contract (Christmas Creek 2) to Ertech following the successful completion of this contract
  • It was one of the fastest large iron ore projects ever constructed at the time
