Joint venture secures Wheatstone contract

The Kiewit Ertech Joint Venture has entered into a general services contract with Bechtel for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project in Western Australia.

The Construction General Services 3 contract has an estimated value of $296 million and commenced in April 2013, with a contract period of up to four and a half years.

The joint venture between Kiewit Australia and Ertech was formed specifically for the Wheatstone Project to provide a strong combination of local and global experience and capability. Ertech has significant recent experience at Chevron's Gorgon project and Kiewit has previous experience working with Bechtel. Together, the two companies provide a wealth of industry knowledge.

The Construction General Services 3 contract will include installation and maintenance of underground and aboveground utilities, construction and maintenance of roads and laydown areas, site support and procurement of materials.

Ertech Holdings chairman Jim Giumelli said that the recent contract win further strengthened the group's presence and capability in the Pilbara region.

"Ertech, as a partner in the Kiewit Ertech Joint Venture, is delighted to secure this contract with Bechtel. As a local contractor with more than 30 years’ experience, we are pleased that this award will create up to 200 jobs in Western Australia.”

“Through the combined resources of the joint venture, we will ensure the successful execution of this diverse and dynamic contract.”
